Records

Records are music discs that can be played for the player's pets in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. In Nintendogs the records can scare dogs, make them angry, reset their mood, or make them bark along to the music. In Nintendogs + Cats the records have similar but limited effects, and can make pets dance or lull them to sleep.

Pets will only react to a record if it is played onscreen- if the record is being played in the background, they will be unaffected.

A few records are exclusive to certain game versions (in Nintendogs they are called Archie's four secret records), for example, the Shredded Fur Record is exclusive to Labrador & Friends.

Nintendogs Records[]

Records are classified by different colors: orange, blue, and green. They can be found on walks as a present, and the rarity between record sets vary.

Orange Records[]

Orange records are part of the Nintendogs soundtrack. Each one has a theme revolving around actions puppies do, such as eating, playing, etc. While they make for nice background music, puppies do not have any reaction to them.

Blue Records[]

Most blue records are classical themes by well known composers. Two blue records, "Naptime" and "Nintendogs" have no known composer mentioned in their descriptions. Each record has a different effect on a puppy's behavior.

Green Records[]

Green records contain music by Archie Hubbs, and are the rarest to find on walks. With the exception of the Giant Socks Record, these records are version-exclusive, similar to the music boxes. It is still possible to obtain them through Bark Mode, though. While they make for interesting background music, puppies do not have any reaction to them.

White Record[]

The White Record is available at the start of the game. Only one is given, it cannot be found on walks, and it cannot be sold.

With this record, the player can record anything using the DS microphone. Puppies do not have any reaction, but the recording can be used as a greeting for players using Bark Mode.
