Ribbons[]

Ribbons (bows in the 3DS version) are accessories to go around a dog's neck or ears. The location of the ribbons will depend on the shape of a dog's ears. If the dog has floppy ears there will be two ribbons, one for each ear. If the dog has pointy ears there will be only one ribbon shown on the dog's neck, acting as a bow tie.

Red Ribbon[]

Rose (Red and Pink)[]

A rose is a type of flower dogs can wear. In Nintendogs there was only one type of rose, that being the red one. In Nintendogs + Cats the rose was renamed to "red rose" and a new pink rose was added. In Nintendogs the red rose can be sold for $10. In Nintendogs + Cats it can be bought from Coletta. The pink rose can be found rarely on walks or given by a SpotPass DLC neighbor.

In Nintendogs the rose appears as multiple red petals around a red bulbous center. In Nintendogs + Cats the red rose appears with a similar appearance, but with the center being bigger and the petals being larger and in more numbers. The pink rose is about the same thing, but instead colored pink with the center being an even darker shade of pink.

Hibiscus Flower (Red and White)[]

The hibiscus flower is a type of flower dogs can wear. In Nintendogs there was only one hibiscus, while in Nintendogs + Cats there are two colors for the flower: white and red. The white flower most resembles the original flower of the DS game. It can be found on walks in both games. In the 3DS version the flowers can be bought from Coletta.

In Nintendogs it can be sold for $10.

In Nintendogs the flower is a creamy peach color with an orange tint inside. In Nintendogs + Cats the white hibiscus keeps its original appearance, while the new red hibiscus has all of its petals colored red with small white stems in the middle.

Lily[]

In Nintendogs the flower appears with light orange petals with a darker orange hue lining the outside rim. The petals are have sharped points and the middle is green with red stems sticking out.

Ten-Gallon Hat[]

A ten-gallon hat is a type of headgear dogs can wear. In Nintendogs there was only one type of this hat, but in Nintendogs + Cats it has been renamed to "Safari Hat" with a brown and white version. The brown version resembles the original hat in appearance. In Nintendogs it can be sold for $14. In Nintendogs + Cats it can be unlocked by having 5,400 Owner Points and can be bought at the Mountains BARC shop for $50.

The red hat is a type of headgear exclusive to Nintendogs that is based on Nintendo's main mascot, Mario. It is a counterpart to the green hat, which is based on Mario's brother Luigi. It can be obtained on walks. It sells for $20.

Green Hat[]

The green hat (Japanese: 緑の帽子 Midori no bōshi) (also known as Luigi's hat (Japanese: ルイージの帽子 Luigi no bōshi) in the 3DS version) is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It is based off of the brother of Nintendo's main mascot, Luigi. Its counterpart is the red hat. It can be found on walks and in Nintendogs it can be sold for $20. It cannot be sold or set as a StreetPass present in Nintendogs + Cats.

In Nintendogs + Cats it is only viewable through the AR Camera. It comes with the second American distribution of Honest Abe via SpotPass DLC.

The hat is dome-shaped and green all over, except for the front where there is a white circle with a green "L" in the middle.

Knit Hat[]

The knit hat (yellow knit hat in 3DS, yellow woolly hat in 3DS PAL) is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats.

The Knit Hat DS/Yellow Knit Hat 3DS (Yellow Woolly Hat, in PAL 3DS) is a striped yellow hat with a fluffy ball on top. It comes in four different colors in the 3DS version: Yellow, Black, Red, and White. In the 3DS versions, the Knit Hats can be bought from Coletta.

Pirate Hat[]

The pirate hat is a type of headgear in Nintendogs. It is somewhat rare and can be found on walks. It can be sold for $24.

The hat is dark blue, almost black. The edges are outlined in red with a white skull appearing on the front of the hat. The hat has no brim on the front, but instead two brims on the left and right, with the sides of the brim folding up.

Tiara[]

The tiara is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It can be found during walks and in Nintendogs it sells for $30. In Nintendogs + Cats the player can buy it for $1,000 at the Seaside BARC after unlocking it with 10,600 Owner Points or by playing for at least 33 days.

The tiara is silver with several pink jewels and a big main jewel in the middle.

Crown[]

The crown is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It is found on walks very rarely. In Nintendogs it can be sold for $30. In Nintendogs + Cats the player can buy the crown for $1,000 at the Seaside BARC after unlocking it with 10,600 Owner Points or playing for at least 33 days.

In Nintendogs the crown is puffy and a deep red color with no brim. The band of the hat is gold with gold buttons, with four golden buttoned straps from the left, right, front, and back attached to the band and the top. At the top there is a purple amethyst resting in a gold frame fitted for its figure, with that gold frame being attached to the golden straps.

Rack of Deer Antlers[]

The rack of deer antlers is a type of headgear in Nintendogs. It can very rarely be found on walks. It can be sold for $30.

The antlers are a light tan color all over. It consists of two symmetrical branches with a few mini-branches sticking out here and there.

Graduation Cap[]

The graduation cap is a type of headgear in Nintendogs. It can be found on walks. It can be sold for $18.

The cap is completely black except for the silver tassel hanging from the right side of the hat.

Party Hat[]

The party hat is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It can be found on walks. In Nintendogs it can be sold for $10. In Nintendogs + Cats it can be made at Mr. Recycle's shop with the following materials:

The hat appears as a red top hat made to look like a cake with candles, strawberries, and a sign that says "Happy Birthday".

Top Hat[]

The top hat (black top hat in the 3DS version) is a type of headgear introduced in Nintendogs.

It is a black hat with a red strap. It sells for $18 at the Secondhand Shop.

The Black Top Hat is a hat accessory item in Nintendogs + Cats that was given out with Honest Abe from Spotpass DLC. It has a white counterpart available in the Downtown BARC. This item can also be found occasionally on the Secret Path in the 3DS Versions. There is also a similar item, the Top Hat, available in Labrador & Friends.

Sombrero[]

The sombrero is a type of headgear introduced in Nintendogs. It can be found on walks. In Nintendogs it can be sold for $10.

The sombrero is very large compared to the average dog, with it having a straw base. Around the rim of the brim of the hat, as well as around the band there is a design with a red base. On that red base there are zig-zagging yellow-greenish lines all over and a black outline for the red.

Viking Hat[]

"The perfect hat for the puppy who loves to pillage and rampage all over town."

The Viking Hat is a hat available in both Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It is a metallic Viking-style hat with horns coming out of the side. It sells for $40 in the Secondhand Shop in the DS versions while it sells for $28 at Mr. Recycle in the 3DS versions. It can be bought from the Seaside BARC for $70.

Santa's Hat[]

The Santa's Hat is a red Santa Claus (Christmas) style hat in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats that falls under the category of "Accessories". In the DS versions, it can be found during walks, but in Nintendogs + Cats, it can be bought in Coletta for $18 once it has been unlocked with 6,600 Owner Points or by playing 23 days in a row. Even so, in Nintendogs + Cats, it can still be found on walks, also.

New Year Tiara[]

"Ring in the new year with the perfect headgear for your own party animal."

The new year tiara is a type of headgear introduced in Nintendogs. It can be found during walks. In Nintendogs it can be sold for $12. It is one of the only accessories to not be available in the original Japanese version of Nintendogs.

The tiara is completely golden with the words "Happy New Year" appearing on the front.

Fireman's Hat[]

"Wearing this hat makes your pup feel like a friendly neighbourhood fireman."

The fireman's hat is a type of headgear in Nintendogs. If the player finds this hat on a walk they will unlock the dalmatian breed for their game. The hat sells for $30.

The fireman's hat is completely red except for the front, which has a white patch outlined with a golden line, with black words printed on saying, "Fire Chief". There is a small golden star about the words. The hat itself is quite bigger than the head of the dog that's wearing it and has a brim that extends all around the helmet.

Rainbow Wig[]

"This is the headgear of choice when you really want to stand out in a crowd!"

The rainbow wig (Japanese: アフロヘア afro hair) is a type of headgear in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats. It can uncommonly be found on walks and in Nintendogs + Cats it can be obtained from Mr. Recycle if the player has enough materials. It sells for $16.

The afro is a fluffy ball of hair with vertical stripes of every hue of the rainbow (except for purple) appearing on the afro. In Nintendogs the colors seem to blend in with each other while in Nintendogs + Cats the colors are clearly separated and defined from one another.

It can be found on walks in the Nintendogs and can be obtained from the Mr. Recycle shop in Nintendogs + Cats.

Lion's Mane[]

The lion's mane is a type of headgear in Nintendogs. It can uncommonly be found on walks and sells for $20.

The lion's mane appears as an abundance of unruly, fluffy brown hair flowing from the dog's face to the back of their neck, making the dog's head look a good deal bigger than it was before.

Champion Crown[]

The Victory Crown (Japanese: チャンピオンクラウン Champion Crown) is a head accessory that appears in Nintendogs + Cats. It can be obtained by placing first in the Nintendogs Cup for the Disc Competition.

It is a big and pointy golden crown that has a circular emblem with a "1" engraved on it. Like other competition accessories, it can be sold for $1,500 at the Recycle Shop, but cannot be obtained ever again with the same pet.

Chef's Hat[]

The Chef's Hat is a hat accessory item in Nintendogs + Cats that can be bought from the Mountains BARC for $28 once it has been unlocked with 10,600 Owner Points or by playing for 33 days. It goes with the Chef's Scarf item found in the same shop.

Strawberry Hood[]

"Fruit-themed headwear is all the rage this season!"

The Strawberry Hood is an accessory item that is introduced in Nintendogs + Cats. It can be obtained from the Mr. Recycle shop when it has been unlocked with 6,200 Owner Points or by playing for 22 days. It is a red somewhat strawberry-shaped hat that envelopes the dog's or cat's entire head except for the face. There are white spots for the seeds and a bright green topping shaped like strawberry leaves.

  • For whatever reason, a few players have reported being unable to get one of these. They would go to Roberto/Bruno, try to get one, and receive a blank message, and not even get it, with or without the necessary materials.
