The Keyboard (Japanese: 電子ピアノ Denji piano) is an item in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats that falls under the category of Music in the Supplies.
In both games it appears to be a percussive instrument with a silver casing. In the original DS game, it features a single octave of keys while the Nintendogs + Cats edition holds two octaves.

Information[]
The Keyboard is an electronic piano which can alternate between instruments or pitch. The player can use it to play their own songs, though it will only play one key at a time.
Once the Keyboard is in use, it will take up the player's Touch Screen. Tapping the piano keys on the Touch Screen will not only play notes but encourage the player's pet(s) to bark/meow along to the key that is being played.
Pressing one of the buttons picturing instruments will change the sound of the Keyboard's notes to resemble the same notes when played from another instrument.
In Nintendogs[]
The player can use the keyboard to teach their dog to sing, a trick that is not present in Nintendogs + Cats.

In Nintendogs + Cats[]
The keyboard features tunes that can be played along with, once one of the six buttons at the top is selected. The song will begin and the keys that are being played will light up. If the player successfully plays along with the tune (though he/she may not be required to play the entire thing on more difficult songs), then the player's puppy/puppies will congratulate them with a howl/meow.

Tune buttons[]
- Bell: A tune that is usually played hourly by grandfather clocks.
- Music note: The first eight notes of Nintendogs theme played by a xylophone.
- Cake: The "Happy Birthday" theme.
- Star: A slower version of the invincibility theme from Super Mario Bros. games, when the player catches an invincibility star. This one will go on constant loop until the player taps the button again.
- Mushroom: A slow version of the 1-Up jingle in Super Mario Bros.
- Mario: The Super Mario Bros. theme. This is the same as the background music played in the Mario House style, except slowed. This one will go on constant loop until the button is tapped again.
How to Obtain[]
- In Nintendogs, the Keyboard can be purchased from the Discount Shop occasionally. Since prices vary each time the player visits the shop, it can range from $80 - $120. It sells for $80 at the Secondhand Shop.
- In Nintendogs + Cats, the Keyboard is available in the Recycle Shop at the start, but it can only be exchanged via a certain amount of materials. It sells for $20.
