The Gym (Japanese: 体育館 Taiikukan) is a place found on walks where a dog and the player can go to practice for Agility Trials (or Lure Coursing in Nintendogs + Cats).

Nintendogs[]

The gymnasium is laid out like an agility trial, except with fewer obstacles. It is recommended to practice at the gym before entering an agility trial. The obstacles that appear there depend on which class the dog is currently in. For example, if a dog is in the Championship, the obstacles that appear will be hurdles, tunnels, double hurdles, seesaws, and slalom poles, but if a dog is in Beginner's Class, there will only be hurdles and tunnels.

First Timer Advice[]

Drag the stylus over a hurdle or repeatedly tap it to coax the dog over. A dog will require many tries to master hurdles, so be patient. Drag the stylus through a tunnel to lead the dog through. Dogs might bump into the wall into the middle, but otherwise hurdles are easy to master.

In Nintendogs + Cats, the Gym is now accessed by going the Downtown Route. The layout is similar to a Lure Coursing track. You will need to buy a lure to enter the Gym. Much like the Gym in Nintendogs, the track layout will depend on the cup your dog is in. If your dog is in the Amateur Cup, you will come across turning points and obstacles at the gym as well as the competition.
