The Japanese Style (Japanese: ジャパニーズスタイル Japanīzusutairu) home is a home remodel style from Modo Home in Nintendogs + Cats. In Golden Retriever & New Friends, it is available at the beginning while in it is available as the default home style in the Japanese version. It is free in Golden Retriever & New Friends while in other versions, It costs $1,000.

The Japanese Style house is a one-story home with dark wooden framework outlining the tan concrete walls, the windows, and the checkered Shoji screen doors. It features yellowed Tatami mat flooring and tan concrete walls.
A small backyard with a field of tall grass and a manual water pump is visible through the wooden, window-paned sliding doors in the back of the room. The doors are vertically bisected by a long black wooden pole matching the rest of the house's framework.
When a kitten goes out to find a present, it may go out into the backyard through the window-paned doors.
