The Piggy Bank (Japanese: ブタの貯金箱 Buta no chokin-bako) is an item in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats that falls under the category of Etc. In the Supplies. Just like the Vase, it will break if thrown, dropping the player's Trainer Points total.

Information[]

Coins can be heard inside of the Piggy Bank when it is shaken. When the Piggy Bank breaks, money will fall out. It can contain $2 - $300. In the 3DS version the player receives a message upon the bank breaking telling them the amount earned. In the DS version there is no message, but the player will be able to check their money and see an increase.

Despite previous thoughts, the money attained does not coincide with the length it is thrown. The Piggy Bank can be dropped directly in front of the player and can still yield $50. This shows that the money dropped is random.

A player can get a higher amount, or in other words, unlimited Piggy Bank tries. The steps to do that, are the following: saving the game, then dropping the Piggy Bank, restarting the game (without saving before exiting), and repeating until satisfied with the received amount.

In-Game Description[]

(Home): "There appears to be something inside the piggy bank. (Note: Piggy bank is fragile.)"
  • Nintendogs + Cats: "This cute little piggy is full of... happiness."
